The Blender Collab: Week 27 "Fish" 10K - CLOSED

This is the Blender collaboration week 27 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, to have fun, to learn and get together.

Rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.

You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. And at the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject.

Deadline is Sunday, July 19 T+00:00

This week’s subject: "Fish"

BUT! With a catch! maximum vertex count 10.000. So prepare for low poly!

Maybe you can improve? See instruction “The making off”

Hmm… any ideas on how to make the water spray effect for waves on a low poly scene? Have a feeling it could improve a scene quite a bit.
4374 verts, 4018 faces total. No textures.

Difficult question.
My first thought is to use particle cloud(s). Eevee has troubles with this, if I can remember correctly…?)
Or transparent bitmaps with splashes.

I skipped too many weeks, so here’s my entry: the biggest fish in the sea

These are exactly 10k vertices (50 for each fish).

This is inspired by an illustration of a children’s book that my kids love:

I tried something simple this time .
Fish are made using plane , first sub divided it then used a knife tool to make appropiate edges and folded the plane and then used solidify modifier to give it some thickness .
For plants - just used bezier curves for them and then added a solidify modifier
Oil paint effect is done in GIMP
Vertices - 1,288

Here is the render before post processing

So …
That’s why I don’t like to swim in dark water …
Great work!

I like this “Paper” look and feel.
Maybe try to give this style also to the seaweed?

Same here… I can’t swim in dark or deep water! Too much unknown!

:fish: Thank you :tropical_fish:

Great entry, really like the ripple effect you did too! The monster reminds me of a Piranha Plant from Mario.

I have a love hate relationship with the ocean, I love the way it and all the animals look, but I hate the risk of one of them brushing up against me while I’m in the water.
