OS: Unbuntu
Blender Version: 4.0.1
I am having several large “black holes” show up in my cavity bake and I am not sure why. I have tried tweaking the colorramp settings but it didn’t help. Whats going wrong here?

Standard ‘black bits’ issue.
Use Extrusion parameter next to Ray distance in the baking panel.
Then experiment with the numbers.
Set extrusion to 0.001 As a first test, these numbers will vary by model and HP/LP fit.
Set Max Ray Distance, you can probably leave it at zero. But again it is a number that may need adjusting to your use case.
That fixed it!
In the video lecture, there isn’t the extrusion distance. Instead there is a Ray Distance
So has Ray Distance
been replaced by Extrusion
in the latest versions of Blender?. I assumed it was replaced by Max Ray Distance
, but it sounds like I can ignore that option
Not replaced they act differently, sometimes Ray distance will need something as well, but yes Extrusion was added after the lecture was made.
Looks good now.
