This is the Blender Collaboration 2026, week 21 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.
This week’s subject is “Red cube”.
The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.
Deadline: 2026-05-23T21:55:00Z

Old 2019 project, not an entry
I just wanted to learn more about animation, and keep the animation subject in its simplest forms. The original was a purple cube (Dude).
Just experimenting with the armature and basics of the NLA-editor
Making a longer version.

resized and shortened the animation so it could be shared too, it’s originally just a 20 second loop
When I was first trying to learn motion graphics and geo-nodes I played with a series of basic shapes, colors, compositing, and different styles. Luckily for this case ‘red cube’ was the second one I did. Created close to Jun 2024 but figured I’d share it since I’m not sure I’ll get time to make anything new.

Thinking inside the box
Time for some rigging, textures and animation
Wanted to make a small animation that shows the cube turning into a robot but had some trouble, so I decided to just animate a turntable
And here’s the final result an activated red cube

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 22 “Rust leaks and wear” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Red cube” challenge may select a subject for next week 23 and win a badge.
@Ali_Alwayel , congratulations on your submission for “Red Cube”. It is primarily the little story you visualize in your scene that makes it so special. The composition is showcased effectively by the lighting and makes the whole thing immediately understandable.
- Crisus - Hard to do, but you’ve managed it very well - In the reflection the column is missing…
- HobbyPirates - Fantastic, sparkling animation. Could serve perfectly as a background.
- Joey_Cuevas - A beautiful cube transformation. However, because the entire piece is executed in an openwork manner, it is less clear that the original is a cube.
Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
