2026 Collab: Week 15 “Spring has sprung”

This is the Blender Collaboration 2026, week 15 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “Spring has sprung”.

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.

Deadline: 2026-04-11T21:55:00Z

Easter holiday morning is probably my favorite thing about spring. Hope you guys don’t mind, I’ll try to use Blender Collab as a soft plan to commit to getting better at drawing. I did the same thing with 3D, and that helped me a lot.
Of course, this isn’t an entry, and feedback is always welcome.

Thank you. It’s made of a single alpha and some material tweaks, like transparency and subsurface scattering.

The ‘central bit’ on the right in the middle image is a single cylinder with a color gradient.

I had an idea, but got bogged down in the technical aspects of the drivers and physics. So I switched to plan B. Low polygon count, but somehow Blender kept crashing. No idea what was or is going on. 200k vertices, 5MB file size. But loading took a very long time and a lot of CPU/GPU resources were being used. I hardly had any modifiers in use.

I use Blender v5.1 and are there more people with these kinds of strange experiences?

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 16 “It’s all about character” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Spring has Sprung” challenge may select a subject for next week 17 and win a badge.

It’s Blender’s 5+ new quirk, which happens at least a few times per project.

Blender 5.x takes a while to load on a Win 11 machine.

I installed the NVIDIA studio drivers, that seems to have improved stability. But yes, had issues with the Roller Coaster the other week. There was one object that had some bad geometry. Wasn’t even a complex piece.

What still causes crashes is Window’s power management. Waking up from a standby usually results in a crash.

Blender 5.2 seems to have an improved memory management system. Fingers crossed.

@RayMobula , congratulations on your atmospheric submission. I think the composition turned out well.

  • Crisus - I think your blue color scheme is beautiful. It suits freezing cold weather well. The shadows could be a bit softer given the low position of the sun and the low light intensity. The flowers would then also become a bit more visible.

Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
