Why will YOU persevere with this course?

I felt inspired to learn some coding and actually stick with it. I decided that game development was the most exciting reason to learn coding. The idea that I can learn to create worlds and actively understand how one of my favorite hobbies is manufactured seems daunting but also exciting. I don’t know if I would ever make a career out of this. But, I certainly would love to delve in and discover the fulfillment and joy that can be experienced by creating a satisfying virtual experience. If not just for myself… maybe also for others.

I believe in pursuing what feels intuitively right and aligned in the moment. When I felt the inspiration to do this, I knew it would offer its fruits. Whatever you decide to do, I believe in following that instinct of joy, inspiration and wonder. Whether I do something useful with this or not is irrelevant when I consider that along the way it only matters that this joy and wonder be nurtured and allowed to grow.

Ever since I was able to hold a controller, I’ve been playing and enjoying games. For years, I’ve had the desire to create a game but never gone through with it. In the past, I’ve downloaded Unity and Unreal and tried YouTube tutorials to help me get started but none of them were what I was looking for. Coding doesn’t come naturally to me, but I understand that it is part of designing video games, so it is necessary. I hope to realize my dream of creating a game that I am proud of, and also hope to enjoy coding in the future.

When I think about a game that I hope to create, I think about games like The Beginner’s Guide. Not just any shoot em’ up, but something with more purpose and meaning. Games that challenge the design of video games, in general, are interesting to me.

I’ll get through the tough times by not letting myself quit, and not equating failure with defeat.

I really want to learn all the skills video-game development brings with it, and i’ve always liked good stories which are able to make people think about things we normally wouldn’t be thinking about, and i’ve recently played through a few games which made me question everything about my own existance; i loved them. I wish to someday be able to cause the same kind of reaction on somebody else.
My objective with this course is to make a quality game which conveys some deeper meaning that may cause some people to think about it after they play it.
To get through the tough times, i’ll probably take a break for a few days, and think again about my main goal: to make people think and enjoy while doing so.

Cheers to anyone reading this, i hope you’ll be able to achieve that which you intend to get with this course, remember to take a break every now and then, so you don’t get overly frustrated. See you around

Hello everyone! :smile:. In the first place, sorry if my English is a bit broken, I’m trying to improve my language skills and having forum conversations is also a great way to improve it too.

D’oh, I’m going a bit off-topic.

I’m taking this course because gaming is a passion I’ve always had since I was little. And recently (about 2 years ago) I started to learn about software development, specifically, web apps development in the company I work with. And I’m loving it. I really don’t have any experience with C++, so it’s also a great opportunity to learn another language. So, I thought, why not try to know about gaming development to mix both my passions? I think the knowledge I’ve acquired about programming and my gaming passion will let me finish this course. I hope we have some nice chat in these forums, and good luck :slight_smile:

Howdy.

I want to make games. I’ve got stories and ideas that I want to be an interactive experience for people. I have a 3D Animation degree, but haven’t really done much with that knowledge in the past several years, and if I want to make a game I need to learn some coding and scripting. That kind of stuff is like another language to me. But, I plan to dedicate the time and energy to make some passions become reality.

Struggle at ftrst stages C++ extrention added to Unreal (I am a COMPLETE BEGINNER % )

It does NOT compile Hello world example

#include // NOTE this shows underline squiggle and iostream not found error

int main()

{

std::cout << “Hello World, Brian.\n”;

return 0;

}

Errors inculde

I want to be able to create games on Unreal engine, and hopefully teach my friends to do so too.

Traffic,

you mean c++ extension added to Visual Studio Code, right? Not Unreal?

I want to be able to become a game designer and be able to work in the field.

Hello all!

I am an Interactive Media Design student with a focus on game programming. I am looking to expand my knowledge and understanding of C++. I am hoping that this course will better set me up for success when taking future classes. My school also focuses on using Unity as an engine so I am curious to see how Unreal engine compares.

I would say that my deepest video game passion is for the mmorpg genre. The vast amount of things you can do when designing and engaging with an mmo is exciting to me. So far in my journey I have found programming to be a difficult thing to learn and master. I tend to be a kinesthetic learner and remember best through carrying out familiar motions.

I am taking this course for a few reasons. First, I have been wanting to learn C ++ for a bit. Professionally, I am in Data Analytics and I have experience in programming in Python and R. However, I would like to expand my programming skills by learning C ++ because I think I can use it to execute faster than Python and R. Also, I love programming and learning new languages and tricks to build cool tools/applications. I’m also taking this class to do something a little different than my day to day 9-5 job. I think video games are amazing and it would be really cool to build something creative just for fun. I’m also taking this course with my fiancee, and we love learning new things together. I’ve never built a video game, so I’m looking forward to unlocking endless possibilities with this course. I am a lifelong learner, and I’m constantly motivated to learn new things. I’m looking forward to learning with you all

Hello,

I am Interested and under taking this course to learn how to code. I am a game developer and designer already but lack coding skills. I want coding skills as a way to further my career in the game development industry. Right now I just want to follow along with this course and learn everything I can about coding for games.
The inability currently to get a position in the game development industry is what is going to keep me going, the want to break into the field and create video games for all to play and enjoy. As I learn I want to start creating another game I have slowly been working on through blue print and making 3D models for, more on that later.

I want to take this course to develop mobile and PC games. I have a passion for gaming and have toyed with RPG makers in the past. I think the current games available are supbar and I want to help change that. I will persevere through the tough times by asking for help and and approaching this with an open mind.

I am currently a high school Software Dev (iOS dev for a large software company) intern for the summer, and I love my job, but I have been worried sick for the past month that I’ll find myself in a job like my peers’ or my boss’s in the future. They’re great people, and really brilliant, but most of them don’t really care about the software they’re designing (I don’t want to go into detail for privacy). I know that I care about video games and entertainment, because they have been so important to me throughout my life so far, in making friendships, helping me through hard times, and letting me bond with my little brother.

I know I’ll run into challenges, but every challenge is just the promise of a solution! I hope to create a 2D platformer as a starting project, and someday work for an Indie game studio. I love the passion and hard work that you can really see and feel in so many projects!

I want to learn c++ to get the thoughts i have in my head out for the world to see. When i was 17 i was learning how to code through myfreecodecamp.com and was actually really enjoying it but for some reason i stopped. i want to become a more productive person and want to add this into the lifestyle changes i’m making, and i want to create and i feel like this is the best way i can do that.

I am going to college going for computer engineering and I am hoping to learn as much as possible in this course before I start signing up for c++ classes.

I hope that at the end of this course, I will be able to create video games effortlessly, and that I will be able to understand Unreal Editor in itself. My main reason for buying this course is so I will be able to use c++ and unreal engine. Only one thing will keep me going, at that is the satisfaction of knowing how fun and easily I will be able to use unreal and make games.

Quick note, I’m not that fluent in the English language.
I’ve always been fascinated with computers from my tender years as a child. As I grew older, my parents started leaving me alone and I developed an attachment to games as they helped me cope with being alone and I would love to help others by taking them for a trip even for a little while and forget about life’s problems. I would like to create adventure games which are mechanically detailed and not constrained. I will remember why I started this and have a partner who always helps me get back on my feet when I’m low.
