Why will YOU persevere with this course?

Hello,

I’m taking this course so I can have the skills to develop games and add to my portfolio to increase my chances for landing jobs and I would like to understand how games I love to play work. I will get through the tough times by taking small breaks and coming back with a clear mind and different approach as I have used for web developing.

I want to create a game development studio and build a game development business. I take a break and go to the gym to help me get through tough times

Hello,

My first mini goal is to get something on my portfolio for a job.
Possibly hoping to create a small game.
Then, I’d like to get into shading and rendering.
I’ll push through by knowing that there are much worse things I could be doing right now.

Hello, everyone! I went to school for Creative Writing and I’m hoping that with that degree and some time coding and designing games, I can one day become a Narrative Designer at a AAA developer. My partner, my immediate family, and close friends push me to keep going and remind me that my future is bright!

I am a lecturer Civil Engineering. My dream is that students can learn fluid dynamics in a 3D environment.
Description of my project can be found at https://unreal.fluiddynamics.eu/

My first idea was to build the project completely in Blueprints, but I think I also going to need some C++

Greetings from the Netherlands

Hello everyone-world!
I’m a professional Software Engineer in the Automotive industry dealing with HMI related software for instrument panel clusters. I have been using Cpp for a couple of years now, coming from embedded C, and the reason for taking this course is to improve my Cpp/Object Oriented programming skills as well as learn a few things about game engines as they tend to be pretty similar to graphics engines for HMI design applications. I am also into gaming since forever so I might end up making my own games in the end!

Happy learning to you all!:grinning:

Hello, I’m software developer and in my future plans I want make games with my team as independent game studio. So, I hope, that this course help me to level up of my knowledge.
I want to create game based on my favorite lyceum book about thief in the labyrinths.
I’m going through tough times with help of alternation relax and hardwork, good food, trainers and friends advices.
And may The Force be with us all!

Hyia folks,

I am taking this course to learn c++ (isn’t that obvious :stuck_out_tongue:).
I started working making games first as an illustrator and animator, next as a 3d artist, and in the last couple years as a technical artist, mostly in Unreal, but limited to Blueprints or external tools.
So learning c++ seems like the next logical step to be able to do more and provide more value to the games I am lucky to work on.
Good luck guys, let’s do this!

Hey all,

I’m a computer science teacher from the UK but working in Asia trying to expand my programming knowledge which is limited to Python, website development and SQL at the moment! Lots of students are desperate to get into game development so hopefully getting involved here will help me help them!
Looking forward to becoming the student again

I took the the course to learn the skills to make the games, to make indie games. It is a passionate thing and a dream for me to be part of the gaming community and contribute to it in anyway. The course get’s me the right skills needed to start . What keeps me going is the to learn something new and create amazing things from what I have learned .

I hope to learn how to be able to develop my own ideas for games into a working and functioning order, whilst creating a portfolio which may help me further my future job prospects.

Game development interests me as I’ve played games most of my life and would love to go from being a total programming noob to a competent one.

Some of my fondest memories are tied to playing games. And I would love to be able to give others those memories I had coming from a game I helped create. I want to be something that I can be proud of and make a name for myself through hard work and dedication. I have experienced hard, tough times, but there’s always a light at the end of that tunnel. We have to start somewhere and stay positive to achieve the goal that is before us.

i am very interested in making games or part of it! I always wanted my own story based game. I think so many stories, so many consepts but i dont have that knowledge of the creating part. I believe with this dreams and hopes i will get over with tihs though times. I also have a whole year so i want to do what i want and learn something useful for my dreams.

Hi everyone!
I want to learn the basics of UE4 before my next year videogame developer studies.
I would love to work as indie game developer and hope one day i will publish my first game.
On tough times I will drink beer with friends! :beers:

Hello!

I’m currently a college student studying film. I’m focused mainly on screenwriting, but realized how much I love the interactive narrative format found in games. As such, I’ve added a Computer Science minor to help learn C++ so that I can help create games. Ultimately my goal is to work more on the creative side and effectively “direct” game development, but I also realize how important it is to understand programming and the game engines proper. While I hope to one day be successful enough to hire someone who prefers the programming side of game development, I realize that when starting out, I am going to have to do a lot of the programming myself.

I will persevere through the course as I have effectively “assigned” it as my summer class. I am leading the development of a game next semester in my school’s video game development club, and I want to be knowledgeable enough to both aid others and create a game that lives up to our expectations. I am familiar with C++ (to the point of using pointers, dynamic memory allocation, and classes and what not) but I also know I have much more to learn. My minor will help me learn the language itself, but only this course offers me the opportunity to integrate it with Unreal.

I am taking this course to add another game engine to my arsenal as I look for a job after graduation. My motivation to persevere is that I’ve learned similar engines before (I took Ben’s Unity class when 2D and 3D were one course), and the structure of a course will help with motivation.

The reason why i have decided to take on this is course is because i have to the understanding that C++ is prerequisite to many jobs. It is also a great foundation to start learning about coding and programming which would make things deeper in this field a lot easier.
I would love to be able to create many things, from websites, to games, to my own software.
As anybody willing to go down this field/ career it comes down to a lot of problem solving. Here would be a good place to work on this skill as i would like it to be second nature to me int the future

Well. Where to start…I love a challenge. I’m not good at math, and I’ve never done physics. But in a world with Google — does it matter?

I purchased this course so I could build my own game. I’ve got a lot of ideas knocking about and am finalizing my GDD.

But, now I want to learn how to build what’s in my plan/head.

Also should probably share, I’m an artist/writer — I enjoy creating things — which is what could be the make or break for this course.

Lastly, I’m looking to change up my career path — I need a job where I can WFH and be left to crack on’ with my own thing…

I’m doing foundational courses in Unity and Unreal to see which game engine feels best to me to start developing games in. I’ve been building various bits of physics and rendering code from scratch in C++ and Rust as I like to understand the fundamentals before using any specific library, framework or software. Having done so I’m finding Unity and Unreal much easier to understand.

Ultimately it would be cool to be able to work on video games full time, either indie or if I could find a workplace that is healthy and inclusive and that looks to develop games with emotional impact and opportunities to encourage emotional growth or as support to people in general.

I will persevere because I find the domain of game development and development of audiovisual interactive experiences to be fascinating both technologically and artistically. I enjoy the challenges and opportunities.

My best advice for when things get tough is to follow what you feel you need in the moment, be kind to yourself and to try to do anything that feels both positive and manageable, even if it is thinking about the thing you would like to do for 5 minutes. Be happy for whatever you can do in whatever position you’re in at that time.

I have always wanted to make my own video games, and if making my own games can generate a portfolio that will allow me to change careers, that would be awesome as well. when tough times arrive i will remember why i started this course and go to my brother and the community for help. Nothing worth doing is easy.
