Welcome to the Unity Section 1 sub-forum

Hi all.

Just signed up for the learn to Code Unity course and hoping to get started asap. I come from a QA background and have played around with Unity before but never seriously. Hope to stick with it this time.

P.S: Also starting with Unity 5. Is this a bad idea or have other people done this without any issues before?

Hi Khanivore, ha ha, I know what you mean! Thanks.

I’ve had some coding experience a while back and remain a games player when time permits… but for now, I’ll be grateful to keep the grey cells functioning.

They say learning new stuff is good for you, don’t they…???

Hello Unity C# code students,

I’m Robin, an Animator that has been making games for years and always wanted too learn to code but whenever I tried it made my brain hurt. Ive hacked at scripts and I think I know what I want code to do, but the language and syntax has put me off.
I’m going to try and overcome my fear of C# and try and get used to coding this month.
good fortune to all of you on your code journey. I will sacrifice a stick of ram to the code gods for us all.

Regards,
Robin

Hello everyone!

my name is Carlos, i just turned 25 on October i am from Denver Colorado. i am here to learn as much as i can about what its like to make a game, i been passionate about video games since i can remember. i started playing in the Atari and from there on i played almost every console that came out. i currently own a PS4 and an Alienware 15 laptop, those are my two gaming devices, i play mostly on my PS4 though. and i also have an android phone (Nexus 6p) and the whole concept of application in our smartphones intrigues me. i am currently going to school for Electrical Engineering Now computer science is another branch as well as game development that interests me immensely. my dream is to one day create a beautifully designed game along with my fellow developers, so that we can create a story for the world to take part of. i am very exited to be working among you guys, i do not have prior experience in the development aspect of gaming or coding for that matter but i did take a year in film production and graphic design so i think thats got to be worht something . well i hope we get to know each other more as we go and feel free to ask for help because ill be asking for a lot of help myself

Hey there,

My name is Corey and I am just starting this course. I have been working in Technical support and Quality Assurance for about 6 years now and I want to start improving my skills with development and coding. I also would like to try my hand at game development and design. This sounded like one of the best courses for the later that I’ve seen from my (meticulous) research. I’m excited to see how it goes!

Greetings. I’m Ben from Madison, WI, USA. I have a degree in CS, but not a whole lot of experience actually making software. I would like to pursue a career as a game developer, and Unity seems like an awesome platform to cultivate some of the skills I need. I’ve picked up some piecemeal knowledge from videos and tutorials, but I think my learning style is better served by more comprehensive lessons and a consistent voice - so here I am. Looking forward to working alongside all of you.

Hi learners, nice to be among you!

My name is Joseph and I recently graduated in Computer Engineering.
I’m undertaking the Complete Unity Developer course to learn C# and how Unity works.
My aim is to be able to develop a simple VR application and have it running on my Android device with the Gear VR.
I already have some programming experience in C, Java and more recently Python.
Any suggestion on how to get the best from this course and if it can be more useful to directly follow the VR course (always from Ben Tristem) are warmly welcome.
Thanks!

Joseph

Hi everyone, I’m Bill and I currently live in Dallas, TX. I first learned to program when I was 8 on my C64. All the way through a couple years of college I was sure I was going to be a programmer. Then I changed directions and ended up working in IT for a little over a decade now. I felt like writing the occasional script was enough to fulfill my love of programming. Then about this time last year I got laid off and when I landed in a new job I found myself surrounded by developers and realized that I was very very wrong. In the last nine months I’ve toyed and tinkered with various development skills, still found I wanted to make my own games so I played with Game Maker for a bit, and now I’ve decided I’d like to take a look at Unity.

Hi everyone,

My name is Justin. I am from Singapore and I am 30 this year.

I have been an avid gamer since young. Majored in Game Design back in my tertiary days and did a minor in Computer Science as well.

I am currently working at Garena Online, a publisher for games such as League of Legends and FIFA Online 3 in South East Asia. While my line of work currently revolve around eSports and community engagement, I hope to get my hands dirty with game development once again on the side.

Looking forward to learning from all of you here in the forums.

Cheers.
