Welcome to the Unity Section 1 sub-forum

Hello, My name is Juan Guillermo, I’m from Medellín, Colombia. I’m 35 years old. I’m a Web Developer. My interest is continue learning about Unity.

Greetings,

My name is Anthony, I live in the Wisconsin, USA and I’m learning to be a solo game developer. I wish to learn how to make my own character models, weapons, locations, and other neat stuff without breaking the bank with expensive software. I hope to gain a lot of information from this course.

Hi everyone,
my name is Paolo Gambardella, I live in Spain and I work in the games industry since more than seven years. Currently I have a time with no project and I wanted to start study something new. I work a lot with the Unity environment, but always as game designer and producer. So I have in general no time to get into details, since my worries are usually more about creating the perfectly engaging mechanic or getting things done coordinating many departments.
So I decided to take this course to have a more practical view in my future, which is great also in case I want someday to make something alone.
Very happy to be in this, I sincerely hope to have also the chance to expand my connections.
cheers!
Paolo

Hey Ales here from the Czech Rep.
I was just trying to find out how to post a new post into the discussion for about 5 mins now. Its does not really seem like a good start.

I hope the course will be easier

Cheers!

Hi all,

I am Tjebbe from the Netherlands. I have tied to work through Blender by myself, but have given up in each attempt because I got stuck. I hope that this more structured approach will give me the tools to actually grasp the program and get to use it in a proper way. In the end I’d like to make some models for 3Dprinting and short animation. My background is industrial design, so who knows when this might come in handy.

Cheers,

Tjebbe

Greetings!

My name is Stathis and I am from Cyprus. I’m an Electrical & Computer Engineer (MEng) and I love programming

Hi everyone!

My name is Elmer. I’m from the Philippines. I’ve been a gamer ever since I was little. I hope to learn a lot from this course!

Hey all, Tim here from NYC! I have a computer science degree, working in the ad tech business the last 10 years, but always had a passion for games and the craft behind them. From the first time stepping into the world of Zelda in my youth to seeing awe-inspiring sci-fi come to life in Mass Effect, the gaming space is a place of awe.

This is a great opportunity for me to learn the Unity engine and see what I can offer to the mobile gaming space. I’m hoping one day this can lead to great side projects, but for now - I am a student of the game and always willing to be humble and learning.

Looking forward to this!

Hi! My name is Sri Harsha Chilakapati, and I’m from Andhra Pradesh, India. Presently I’m studying my pre-final year of Computer Science with my major as Database Systems, but I hope to change it.

I wanted to make games right from my child hood, and started making some 2D games with a friend when I was 14 using GameMaker. I wanted more power, so I did write my own game engine (done only for educational purposes) in Java that exports to Windows/Mac/Linux/Android/HTML5 from a single code base. I have also used it for LudumDare game jams, 8 times in a row.

Now I have only one more year to come back into games from engine programming, and to step into the outside world as a Game Programmer, and hence I decided to learn both Unity and Unreal engines as they are popular ones.

If this works out, I’m in the idea of creating a startup, as there are no game programming companies around a radius of 400km from my location, and I think this is the best course. I think I can complete this with a breeze.

Hello everyone!!

I hope this is right . Anyway, my name is Vaughan, from Australia and have a black belt in Jujutsu. I used to do a lot of programming in my younger days but it always got pushed to the sidelines because of my interests in music and martial arts (judo, karate, tai chi, white crane and of course Jujutsu ).

Mostly I’m doing this course for personal development - I’m a little bit too old to think of making it a career out of it, but, I’ve always wanted to make games and even made a little headway into an FPS with Unity - but, it wasn’t structured learning and was very problematic before getting pushed to the sidelines again, because of guess what .

I mainly hope to learn about the basics of 2D development while 3D is fun, learning about 2D is where my main interests are - I would like to make a Mario type clone just to say yep, “I made this”.

Cheers to all!

Hello, everyone  I m Sarantis, Athens, Greece. I m not much of a gamer, but I have been playing more frequently since I started exploring Unity and game engines for my thesis. I found out that coding and game developing are both challenging for your brain and creative at the same time, so I really want to learn more of this. I really like the enthusiasm I see from everyone and I will try to contribute as much as i can as well
So lets have fun!

Hello everyone!

My name is Grady, I live in Kelowna, BC and I work in the security and surveillance industry. I’m a multi-genre gamer, but particularly enjoy RPG type games. I played around with some coding in basic about 20+ years ago on old DOS 6.0 systems and always wished I had gone further with it. I’m looking forward to learning something a bit more complex and aimed towards gaming.

Nice to meet you all!

I’m Harry Herrick, a practicing attorney in Hawai’i; ready to begin developing basic skills and portfolio for a possible second career. I am more interested in learning how to dev/design/prog a card games in unity with u# than a shoote/level type game because my favorite game is Hearthstone, and that’s the niche/genre I would like to specialize in one day.

Hello everyone,

I’ve just signed up to the course and jumped in today. I’m in my mid-40’s and have been playing games since my Dad bought me a 48k ZX Spectrum. I did a computer science degree in the very early 90’s and worked as a C developer for a few years in the mid 90’s. However, I then stopped writing code and would love to get back in to it! Can’t think of anything better to write than games - I still play as often as work and family life allow me to!

Cheers,
Khanivore

p.s. I’ve started the course using unity 5 - i’m sure it will all end in tears
