Without reading your details, did you try to apply rotation Ctrl-a? Because the texture coordinate is based on the object itself … check also the origin point of which the object mapping is related to.

Not enough gradient (grey) area in texture nodes

I was adding gradation to the mountain, but there wasn’t enough gray area when I applied the Separate XYZ node and previewed it. I tried to add more topologies (subdividing), but that didn’t resolve it. I’m not sure where I made a mistake.
