[SOLVED] WebGL Build Fails with Errors -- Failed Running il2cpp.exe

This is a known bug and a solution is being worked on.

Update:

I won’t call this a proper solution, but I managed to successfully build by installing a previous version of Unity (5.4 specifically). If anyone else experiences this issue consider using this workaround.

I installed Unity 2017 intending to build my text adventure game for WebGL. Unfortunately I consistently run into an error when building stops altogether on il2cpp. The content of the Unity project doesn’t seem to affect the outcome.

These are the error messages I receive each time I attempt to build & run:

What I have tried:

  • Deleting Library, Project Settings folders.
  • Building an entirely new project and only adding a cube to it.
  • Rebooting my machine.
  • Running Unity in administrator mode.
  • Changing API compatibility to .NET 2.0 (was .NET 2.0 Subset).
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Unity 2017 & WebGL module.

Attempted:

I tried to install Emscripten because that seemed to be relevant, but I’m not sure I did it correctly.

Hmm well reinstalling would have been my guess lol

I came into the same problem and after getting frustrated, looking for a solution and not finding one and asking a few friends and stumbled upon a video that kiiiiinda explains it. The guy is speaking in a language I do not understand, but just following along with the visual fixed this problem for me.

Go to your Unity installation folder: Unity/Editor/Data/PlaybackEngines/WebGLSupport/BuildTools and edit the file labeled “emscripten”

Change

NODE_JS=[os.getenv('NODE'),'--stack_size=8192','--max-old-space-size=2048']

to

NODE_JS=[os.getenv('NODE'),'--stack_size=1024','--max-old-space-size=2048']

After doing that, I was able to build my text game no problem. I thought this should be posted here for anyone else who runs into this issue.

I’ve tried changing the file, but it didn’t let me save

I am running into an issue every time I try to build and run my Unity 2D Game. I create a folder for the Build and after its complete there is no files I cant find anything. Its very annoying. Sometime I receive a message saying:
Build completed with a result of ‘Succeeded’
UnityEngine.GUIUtility:ProcessEvent(Int32, IntPtr)
But I cant find my files.
