Looking to make a noncommercial version of one of my favorite Table Top RPG games - the GDD is here for this Shadow of the Demon Lord game that will have a focus on character leveling and sanity or ‘stress’ levels similar to Darkest Dungeon

I’ve always been a fan of the old Sega Genesis Phantasy Star game when I was a kid. My life growing up was not the best, and this game was an escape from all of that negativity. I loved how the storyline evolved exploring three different planets to fight the ultimate evil in the galaxy that corrupted Lasic!
My RPG idea would expand on this idea of immersive story telling with massive worlds full of possibilities to help people.

This is a draft of my GDD. I followed it closely with lecture video so it will have similarities with sample GDD.

I’m going for a twist on the standard rpg idea and one that I always feel I want to do when playing a game and finding myself generally disliking all the people you’re meant to be fighting for:

Genre:

3rd Person action, RPG, single player with maybe two characters if possible, fixed camera

Target Audience:

Game for all… Old school RPG with a silly sense of humour.

Controls:

Mouse, Keyboard

Thematic Setting:

Medieval, underwater battles lots of sea battles.

Tech Stack: Unity, Reaper for music, 3D assets from blender or from unity store

Platform(s): Steam

MVP Game Moment: A couple of enemy types, battles and basic progression through a couple of scenes. Simple Sandbox demo

Game Summary: “Reclaim the seas” becomes the rallying cry as Maglomil and his allies strive to overthrow the tyrannical overlords, the tyrants of the desserts mountains. Restore peace and harmony to the once-thriving underwater world. The fate of the seas and its inhabitants hangs in the balance as players join Maglomil on this epic and unforgettable journey.

Core Player Experience: Silly, Curiosity Open world discovery

Central Story Theme: Travel to multiple times to protect his seas

Story about environmental issues with a laugh.

I am prob. the lastest :smiley: But here it goes

Genre: Top Down, Fixed Camera, (i would love to have) a multiplayer(mmo style) but starting as a singleplayer, 3rd person action RPG
Target Audience: i am not sure yet, people who like hack and slash and a bit gore.

Controls: Mouse and Keyboard

Thematic Setting: Modern time maybe future but still with swords and magic. But the magic is more like something ancient that people tried to keep and gave to the next generation. Maybe some guns, if it fits but i am not sure yet.

Tech Stack: Unity with c#. I am still looking for the rest.

MVP Game Moment: a little fight against multiple enemies (for the future)Explaining the Interface and the gameplay + gameplay while playing the game,

Game Summary:
Project „Brank“ is an Hack and Slash in the style of Diablo but in the modern world of japan. The player moves around and fights against a lot of enemies which spawn from the „outer world“ . The „outer world“ are rifts in the „inner world“, where we are. And we defend the city against these enemies. But also humans from the „inner world“ are corrupted and the „Cradius“ ,thats the name of the enemies from the „outer world“ try to overrun and take over the „inner world“.

Core Player Experience:
Adventurer and Powerful

Central Story Theme: Savior of the „Inner World“

Design Pillar: Putting the player in overwhelming looking situations, with story what what is and where everything comes from.

Remarkability: Skills / Story and Action

Anticipated Steam Early Access Launch date: End of 2025

Feature Development Priorities:
Real time action based combat,
all rpg elements( leveling up, getting new skills, getting stronger etc),

Magic / Martial Arts system similar to Avatar: The Last Airbender, with some unique skills combinations and class specialisations (hopefully :wink:)
