BullCowGame could not be compiled. Try rebuilding form source manually

I have tried to follow other tutorials online or in the forums and have not found anything that helps. I have seen multiple people experiencing the same issues as well. this is my bull cow game folder

I am extremely frusterated at the fact that the file is not opening in unity becasue in order to start makeing the game i will need to see the base that is supposed to be available. So far I have enjoyed the course in the Visual Studio Code section but dont know what to do form this point because I cannot progress. If someone could help out It would be greatly appreciated.

Go into Saved and then Logs and then provide the contents of the most recent log.

I have attempted all of the workarounds in that thread, my issue remains.

Okay so you must have:

  1. Checked that VS is your compiler (and not any other version you might have installed)
  2. Reinstalled UE again

What’s the most recent log’s contents as DanM said above?

ERROR: Windows SDK must be installed in order to build this target.

That’s a tricky one…I’ve seen this before, many people solved it by installing both Windows SDK 8.1 and 10, or didn’t select everything needed in their VS installation.
I’d suggest a fresh installation of VS Code or Community, but if anyone else has more experience on that issue it would be good, so you won’t be spending time on reinstallations.

I am having this same issue. My guess is UE4 version. I’m on 4.25, checking the log based on this comment…

Also trying to install .NET Framework 4.6 I received this error, and confirmed I have .NET Framework 4.8 installed.

Update: I tried to create a new BLANK… Unreal engine 4.25… C++ project and hit the same error. I was able to download the .NET Framework SDK 4.6 or higher at the below link and BullCow & My own projects work:

Use the settings provided in the screenshot. It will install everything you need including the right .NET SDK

The error happened to me when I changed the original folder name. Downloading the resource folder and following the instructions exactly solved my problem.

Had that same problem.
Download Unrealengine 22.3 and set it as current , Now Open the BullAndCow project. It works for me

Try to verify your unreal engine through epic games launcher.
Go to Epic Games Launcher -> Unreal Engine -> Library (see tabs)
then click the arrow down and select verify. This solution works on me.
