Blender Collab: Week 38 “Celtic”

This is the Blender collaboration week 38 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, to have fun, to learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “ Celtic

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.

You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. And at the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject.

Deadline: October 25, 2020 7:00 AM

I’m excited to see what all of you make!

Here’s my submission. I hope you’ll like it.
I tried to recreate a memorable scene with Excalibur from the animated movie The Magic Sword and I’m pretty content with the outcome.

Also, since I found it difficult to decide on which version to post, here’s an extra one (not as submission) with a bit more magic to it:

I think I made this difficult, even for myself. I hope others have been inspired and more entries are put in soon. I’m almost done mine, just have to finish adding the small things.

Yes indeed, I had more trouble deciding on what to do than actually creating what I had in mind. First I did a celtic knot (the simplest one possible to begin with ofc), then changed my mind and though of making a decorated archway, then that turned into Excalibur, but a whole other version of it than the one in the submission.
I do hope that more people share their projects before the time limit is over. I’m so curious what others thought of making!

I’ve got one in process though it’s turning out to be a bit more difficult than I would have imagined.

@Alexandra_Ispas, same here. I did decide on what to make though, but I think the topic has such a broad spectrum it made it really difficult to reach that decision. @Capricas_Kirito, again, same here. After I figured out what I wanted to do I had to figure out if I was going low or high poly, realistic or cartoon shading, etc. The details were difficult to figure out as well.

I started something, overly ambitious in time as usual. Then last night lost an evening’s progress when Blender hung when asked to save. So having just noticed it ends so soon there is little to no hope of completing it at any level.

Glasgow 1967. You can extend the deadline to give everyone a full week.

Does everyone feel like they need/could use more time to complete this one? I’m okay with extending the deadline for folks to get things completed.

Wow, that doesn’t even look like it’s being render, it’s so realistic it’s scary.

Thanks but not for me I think I would need a month. lol.

I will add it to the projects to keep doing a bit on.

I did a clootie well. It’s a past tradition that’s not really practiced anymore and not really understood either. Most references say it was for pilgrimages to mostly make offerings in hopes to cure illness. Other references say the cloths that are tied to the trees are wound dressings that would be soaked in the well water, applied to the wound for some time, then left there to leave the injury behind.

I honestly wouldn’t mind having the full week to work on mine but I’m not sure it’d make that much difference. there’re already some good renders here.

fabulously stunning :raised_hands::raised_hands::raised_hands:

Thanks, just a good reference and some patience…

Looks like there may be just the 4 entries this week since there hasn’t been enough feedback about extending the deadline. I don’t know how to set up the poll thing for voting if someone would like to do that when the time comes.

Usual format vote. One day to vote, maximize time for nest challenge.
Choose your own parameter to judge the entries, some possibilities:

  • best embodies the theme
  • most colorful
  • funny
  • technically advanced
  • realistic
    The poll ends on 2020-10-26T00:00:00Z

Actually a great theme but possibly demanding more time, so we got fewer entries this time around.
