About 'Getting Started Mid Section Challenge'!

The main structure is a cube with 2 cylinder Boolean modifiers crossed. That is then arrayed 3 times and finally wrapped in a lattice modifier to give it height in the middle for some variation. Figurines had random z rotation transform applied to make them face random directions.

A bit late to the party, but realized while re-watching the lecture that, alternatively, one can create a sloped roof with a cone primitive with 4 vertices (it would need to be rotated on the z by 45deg to align the base to XY) :

That can then be scaled to create various sloped roofs.

That’s the render that I did just today, but in the past I’ve done stuff like this:

This is not meant to be a table but a simplified bridge - I hate working under pressure.
I adhered to the one hour though

It helps to build a mental map of your build. Think a head, what kind of mesh strategy you going to use.
It also sharpens your skills in hot keys, tools, etc.
What can blender do for you, in stead of you working in Blender.
It helps also to not go into details that much.

So one hour projects, sharpens your skills.

thanks FedPete for your advice and also pointing out skills or methods to become better in blender - it’s a mindset that needs time to develop, but iwill give it a try

That is so cool

I ended up modelling not too much and “wasted” more time on material assignment. But I’m still kind of happy with it.

Never a waste of time these look great :+1:

Hey! I decided to do something I thought would be simple and try modelling a few things on my desktop. It went okay, and I managed to use the array modifiers for the laptop keys and the boolean modifier for the mug, but even with a fairly simple scene, I kept finding myself unable to do lots of things I wanted to. Anyway, I’d love to hear any feedback and other than that, just looking forward to the next lecture!

Keep pushing through the course. Hopefully those ‘unable to do’ things will be covered in later lectures. As it covers more things and processes.

I wanted to do way more but I really started to get carried away. A house was enough.

Made an isometric room, inspired by my bedroom, I got verry carried away. I had a basic understanding of blender before starting the course (used a verry sloppy fabric sim for the blanket). There’s a lot of room for improvement, but what do you think?

My personal taste would be a square base.
You window wall looks smaller then the other wall.
And I would have chosen more contract between the table and the wall.

I was going for what the real world room looked like(its a verry beige rectangule), but i agee with you, for the isometric style it will look much better with a square base, I will try your suggestions, thank you

Spent way too long on this but was able to arrange my mistakes into room decorations
