2025 Collab: Week 19 “Nerdcore” - VOTE CLOSED

This is the Blender Collaboration 2025, week 19 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “Nerdcore”.

  • “Nerdcore” - Embrace nerd and geek culture and aesthetic, infuse elements of star trek, Anime comic books, video games, science fiction, fantasy, technology, etc. or pure geek/nerd fashion styles. The concept isn’t to focus on one element, but mash some together.

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.

Deadline: 2025-05-10T21:55:00Z

I am a big fan of video games and dices  So I build a mixture of the two where the dice opens a portal to one of my most favorite video games Portal

I actually played around with VFX and animations with this and will update the post with a nice animation once it is rendered

Here the animation:

My entry depicts a duel of fates- what happens in the minds of two fans when they fight over the last of something in stock.

The combatants fight over a golden Pikachu set up similarly to the Golden Idol from Indiana Jones, they are wielding Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber and the Lich King’s Sword Frostmourne respectively.

The arena - the sacred grove from the Legend of Zelda the Twilight Princess.

I set it up like a Comic book panel, including a comicesque clash of steel effect.

I tried to design some nerd chic outfits, and would have wanted to add more references to their attire but ran out of time.

I made everything depicted except for the following, which I will also provide a link in case anyone is interested in acquiring the pieces.
Frostmourne - Efarys - Sketchfab
Pikachu - Solenne Marty (@Solenne-Marty) - Sketchfab
Twilight Princess Sacred Grove - jameslucino117 - Sketchfab

I love both Star Wars and Star Trek, so in this render, the USS Enterprise faces off against a lone TIE Fighter.

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 20 “Cyberpunk” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Nerdcore” challenge may select a subject for next week 21 and win a badge.

@Srl1 congratulations on your great scene. It looks like the Enterprise discovers the universe of Star Wars. And with that the good chases the evil. A very well done composition.

  • SweetOblivion - Well chosen cartoon layout (composition). I think the subject of the fight, got less visual attention (Pokemon). Giving less nerdcore meaning to the scene.
  • gallmerci - Great animation - I would have expected the dice to open up (fold out) to reveal the new dimension…

Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
