Would it be cheaper to use simple primitive blocks for lighting bleed?

Regarding performance, would it be cheaper (in terms of processing) to use a gray block (textureless) instead of the a shape that has texture in it to block fill in the spaces between the upper layer of the roof and the walls?

I assume it would. You can see the demonstrating map that comes with the assets just uses big box brushes.
