I have just started out as an indie game developer.
I recently got my first game up on Steam Early Access and I reeeally need a short break from it now. lol
I really want to learn more and online multiplayer seems like a great thing to learn and be able to implement.
So for a couple of weeks I’ll be making a new, small, simple (but cute) game while following the course.
It’s going to be a Real-Time session-based third-person game via Steam. Hopefully for up to 8 players.
My background is as a 3D-artist and I have worked for a few years in the gaming industry.
Currently I am a working part time as a substitute teacher while I am developing my own games.
As I definitely don’t have a background as a programmer, this course seems a little intimidating, but after learning so much from scratch about unreal engine over the last few months I am well up for the challenge!
The main difficulties I foresee is probably the passing of information between players.
E.g. who triggered what, uploading score, starting game when enough players have joined, synchronizing and passing information to the UI… I don’t know… a lot! lol
It’s gonna be fun to try it out though!
