For those who might need this info, you can find the steam_api.dll in redistributable_bin and the other missing dll in \sdk\public\steam\lib\win32 or wind 64 depending on build. You have to copy these two files into the same directory as the .exe. Once I did this my soultion was able to build and run without problems.
