Publishing on Steam

Though I still have some work left to do on my WIP Wonderful Realms game ( Wonderful Realms (WIP, nearing end) and other posts), I began the Steam publishing process. Never done this before, but we’ll see how it goes. It is not free: $100.00 per game uploaded.

I went to WikiHow to get detailed instructions for publishing on steam. How to Get Your Game on Steam: Step-by-Step Guide

I have done everything in Part I, and am waiting for the “Onboarding Review”, which is estimated to take 7-10 days. I have given them my tax info and uploaded back and front photos of my driver’s license (also accept passport and various other kinds of ID).

Part two involves building the Steam store for my company. Then, I can submit the game itself, and it is expected to take 30 days to review it before giving an accept/deny. (It’s just like when I used to work for the government. Nothing happens fast!) I see things like “Build on Steam” and haven’t explored that yet, whether it’s acceptable to send the executable directory or if you have to send source! I’ll take down that bridge when it’s time to cross it.

Interesting to read how this process works.
But I can certainly imagine something like that.
I hope it gets launched soon.

Is that 100 euros a one-time payment or a recurring fee?

I read this a long time ago, but I guess it still stands today: the $100 fee is for publishing, but you get it back once you reach $1,000 in sales. Also, Steam takes a 30% revenue share from sales.

I believe it is once per game uploaded.
