For some reason the rotation point is in the middle of the turret game object and not at the bottom. How do I fix that?

This sounds as if there is an offset between the parent game object and its children. If you rotate the parent, the children automatically rotate relative to it.
If that’s the case in your game, the solution is to move the child game objects closer to the parent.
