My LP Knight.
Edge Split modifer did nothing so there are all those ugly triangles.
Any suggestions how to make the modifier work?

I think it depends on how distorted your model is before applying the modifier.
And did you turn on Smooth Shading? That seemed to make a difference for me when testing on a random shape I just made.

I just woke up so not entirely sure but did you actually apply the modifiier (you probably did).
I see James replied and its most likely what he has posted is the case. Off for coffee!!
Not that distorted - just some blue faces here and there (I guess faces turn orange then red if they are more ditorted). I didn`t actually apply modifier cause it sholud change the mesh in real time when you add it to the stack.
No I was in flat shading. I`ll try.
No I didnt. But, again, I think modifiers alter mesh in real time.

I had to apply Mirror modifier first. Then Edge Split.
All the ugly triangles are gone. Here.

This is exactly the same for me. In fact being the Student Instructor for blender gives me even greater access to learn as i find if i am unsure of the answer myself (remember i am a student too) then i learn from others like @James_Ran or i have to find the answwer myself.
We never stop learning and learning together is fun!
