As normal, I was confused on this video
For me solving the issue seemed like this:
How far does the player have to move to not be shot by the cannon
I would take a horizontal line from the player hitbox and then move that line across until it interests the 25*d line, that is the safe zone under the ‘‘enemy’’
My Calc shows sin, sin-1 and sinhsinh
does this mean asin? I’m assuming so
Hi there,
asin returns the arcsinus so the inverse. This is the same as sin^{-1} or sin-1 on your calculator.
sinh is a hyperbolic function, this is not the same as the inverse.
Kind regards, Lisa
After inadvertently using the incorrect function, I backtracked and got the right answer. I’ll get the pneumonic down eventually - in the meantime here’s my answer:
Θ = asin(4/6)
Θ = asin(2/3)
Θ = 41.81 degrees
The above is less than our maximum 45 degree limit, so we should be able to hack the scanner.
At first I used tan/atan because I forgot that the hyp is always that, even if it’s adjacent to the angle we want. Doh! We need the the angle associated with sin (y axis).
So using sin = opp/hyp => sin(a) = 4/6 => sin(a) = 2/3
We are looking for the angle, so we need to use the Inverse Functions.
asin(2/3) = 41.81
This is a smaller angle than 45 so yes, we can hack this turret!
Sin θ = Opposite/Hypoteneus
Sin θ = 4/6
Sin θ = 2/3 or 0.66
θ = asin (2/3)
θ = 41.81 Degree
This shows that the turret can be hacked
4/6 = .67
asin (.67) = 42.07
The turret can be hacked.
