Introduce Yourself Here

Welcome @EarlyAccessRPG to your special sub-forum. We’re not all here yet, we’ll be matching people in here by email over the coming days per my comment below against a recent Kickstarter update.

Meanwhile enjoy, and introduce yourself. What’s your RPG gonna be like?

Hi I’m Gavin Phoenix from the Midlands, UK. I’m currently running through the Unity course trying to get prepared for the RPG course.

Game Dev is a hobby for me, I enjoyed programming when I completed my HND in computing and I’ve loved games since I can remember, I’d say mid 80’s!

I envision an RPG set more in the future. I always picture it with swords still but that’s too Star Wars! You must go see Rogue One BTW!
I haven’t put too much thought into it yet instead focusing on the Unity Course which is taking me longer than I’d like to go through. That pesky life stuff getting in the way all the time!

Yay I have access now! Well for those of you who do not know me, I’ll introduce myself. My name is Eric and I am 39 years old, married, and a father of 7 great kids (On most days). I live in the great state of Washington in the US. I have been trying to learn game development for the last 5 years on my own… and thanks to Ben and his team, I now have a place to call home. I’m involved in the Unity course, Blender course, Unreal Course, VR Course, and obviously now the RPG Course.

I can honestly say that out of all the game engines I have tried, Unity really calls to me. I am more here to learn the fundamentals then planning the next big game of the century. Eventually, I want to create a nice title with my name on it, maybe as a family project, but until then… I am here to learn

Hi, I’m Lee. I’m 38 years old and live in England; although I spent a couple of years in France and several in Ireland. This will be my first look into game development and unity but I have dabbled a little with c# before at a previous job although it was more for tools design. My knowledge of the language is far from complete (not to mention rusty) as I only really covered what was needed at the time for the task at hand.

Hi @Ocaeron ! Did you at least take the Unity course from Ben and get through the Glitch Garden section? The RPG course will be intermediate and not for beginners. If you get through that part of the Unity course though, you will be ready to begin.

Hi all!! I’m Roberto, from Canary Islands, Spain. Currently working full time as a developer(mostly web), but I do, or at least try, a bit of everything, on both my job and my free time. I’m following all of Ben’s courses and will be giving them most of my time in the next months. My goal is to be able to quit my current job and do some cool projects(mostly games) on my own or partnered with someone(this seems like a good community to find someone to work with) and be able to at least have a roof over me and a plate of food on the table while doing what I want.
It’s nice to meet you all and we’ll see each other on the next stream the latest
Feel free to contact me for anything you want

Hi, I’m Brad. I have been working with c# since the .net 1.0 days but mainly for manufacturing data driven applications. I have built a few multi-threaded apps for the company I work for. I have always been interested in game dev and hopefully this will teach me more about programming patterns and methodologies. I live in the US, in the middle state of South Dakota… Currently it’s 10 degrees with a winter storm heading our way.

I am currently following the Unity Course and the Blender course.
Great stream today, look forward to what is yet to come.

Looking forward to working with everyone and making this a BA RPG.

Thanks,
Brad

Hi everyone! My name is Richard! I want to be the first console development studio creator in Hong Kong! I only recently started to learn programming last year, and I can’t say Ive made much progress! I love studying game mechanics, because they’re very intriguing to me and I hope to be able to fully design most games from scratch without any tutorials by the 2020s!!

I hope one day if any of you wish to come to Hong Kong for work, I’ll be able to provide that opportunity!

Hi everyone! I’m Kristin. I moved to San Mateo, CA (from Phoenix, AZ) about a month ago. I was a Java developer at State Farm before I moved, and now I get the oh so fun privilege of looking for work in the Silicon Valley area. I have most recently been working on Udacity’s Virtual Reality devleopment Nanodegree to keep coding as I look for work. My goal with the RPG course is to create an RPG in VR.

I’m also open to working on group projects if anyone is interested.

Hello. My name is Tim Neufeld. I have been programming off and on since I was a child. I just picked up the C# language a few years ago. I have written applications in many different languages, but I just recently decided to try my hand in game development. I wanted to send a shout out to Ben and his team. I have a few of your courses now, and I have loved them all. I am very excited to see what this course becomes.

I do not know what my RPG is going to be yet. I have some ideas I have thrown around in my head, but I have not been able to nail it down yet.

Hi all,
My name is Kenneth Soerensen and I live in a small town called Grimstad on the beautiful south-cost of Norway. I am an 81 model, making me at the time of writing 35 years old, but never too old to learn new things.

I am a passionate and creative hobby programmer with a strong focus on pragmatism and simplicity. I started programming in the early 90’s when the introduction to internet for common people and making web content was the new hot thing. From this start, the journey went through QBASIC, VB (Visual Basic) and then PHP in 2003. Since this time the journey have taken me through Java, JavaScript, C, Objective-C, C++, Python and C# where I use most of my times now days. I have never worked as a professional programmer, nor would state that I am anywhere near to be able to call me a professional programmer. Just love to code as my hobby, and love to learn new tricks and stuff.

I have a deep love for web programming and uses most of my spare time programming on various web projects of interests. Or learning new technologies and trying to keep up with all that is happening in the web development areas. However, for the last few years I have gotten an interest for game development/programming using Unity. I have all the courses Ben have put out on Udemy, and loved the Unity course.

In my day to day work I work with certifying products against national and international rules and regulations, however a lot of the time is spent on implementing various systems like SharePoint, Dynamic AX, Document Management system and Enterprise Content Management systems. This involves a lot of web based development and an eye for systems, structure and finding the best solutions. As you probably understand I love systems and IT.

And just for the fun of it I run my own MS Office 365 E3 Enterprise, Project Online, Visual Studio Team Services and Azure. I love to play, test and break to see what is possible. You can say I am a MS fan boy. However, I love my MacBook Pro, and iPhone and nothing can replace it.

I love the work @ben have done, and are doing with the courses and GameDev.tv since the lunch of the Unity course. And are a Kickstarter supporter on the Unreal and RPG course. I was too late on the other Kickstarter’s from Ben, unfortunately. It is very inspiring to see what Ben have achieved so fare, and how he has built his company.

I am really looking forward to the follow along with the RPG course in Unity, and hope to learn a lot. I am not an artist, and will not even try to pretend to be. It there opens any opportunity to contribute on other areas, like coding I would jump on it I if feel I have anything to contribute with. Anyway, it would be fun.

Cheers, and have a lot of fun all!! :grinning:

Hi I’m Sean Ryan from Toronto, Canada.

Definitely excited about this course, more so than the others. I’m all conflicted over what type of RPG i’d like to make … there are so many choices to choose from … and they all sound great.

I was bummed that I was working and couldn’t see the livestream … I notice now it shows as “not started yet”, even though it’s been over a few hours now. It was mentioned that it would be recorded and playable later.

Where can I do that?

Thanks,
