I don't seem to be able to import projects properly under MacOS

Using current Unity, Mac, OS Current, 2020.3 LTS, I don’t seem to be able to get a clean import of projects. I created a new project, downloaded and extracted the zip, dragged it into the asset folder. I get a bunch of errors;

any help appreciated.

@Nina would you be able to help Charley out here?

Hi Dataman,

Welcome to our community! :slight_smile:

The “funny” numbers in the path indicate that everything in the zip was unpacked, which is a common problem on MacOS. However, I’m not sure if that’s the case here. Try to remove the files from your Assets folder.

Then use the Terminal to unzip the files because the standard unzipping tool unzips everything inside the zip archive.
See here: https://swissmacuser.ch/macos-terminal-bash-unzip-zip-file-with-tar/

Check the content of the unpacked file. If it looks “normal” (no “funny” folder names with lots of numbers), import the files into Unity.

Let me know if it worked! :slight_smile:

Thank you so much for the pointer.

I turned off auto extracting in Safari and did an unzip with WinRar, free on the App Store.
That extracted a package that I could easily import.

Fantastic. I’m glad the solution was so simple. :slight_smile:
