Here, have another donut!

While waiting for the rest of the course to be updated for 2.8, I’ve been trying some other tutorials. Here’s my donut from the BlenderGuru course. You’ve probably seen a bunch before, but isn’t there always room for another donut?

I’m hoping for some feedback on this one. Any is welcome, but I’m specifically looking to work on the brick wall. I followed his procedure, mostly, I think, but I’m not happy with the result. It looks a bit rubbery to me. Any ideas?

Cheers.

I did this one also! Not so tough project. But you added some very interesting textures to it.
While the subject is the donut. But your cup is amazing. The metal spoon is excellent and the water drops on the glass, very believable!

The blue wall, is I think too much, because it distracts the main subject. Meaning the donut and cup of thee. Make it dull flat. Focus in the subject.

The table is (I think a bitmap) and missing sharpness. And I find the colorful sprinkles too small. In relation to donut size.

But above all, it is creativity that counts. There are no rules for that.

Good project, well done.

Very well done. Cup with condensed steam above the waterline looks good. (Longer I have been looing and writing, I wonder if it’s realistic? The cup would be warm. not condensing. However, it Looks Great!)

The wall, given it represents a painted wall, would have lost the texture of plain bricks. So I do not feel it looks too far out from realistic. I would not have questioned it had you not mentioned it.

It may look different, even better, were the shot not flat on to the wall?
Just thought, if wanting to try something on the wall, add some ‘paintbrush’ bump texture to it? To disrupt the perfect smoothness.

The marble table might be improved with some displacement, normal map, if there is one to go with the image. It would in that usage be a polished, reflective marble, though that may not show up much.

Depth of field is nicely set.

Can I eat it?

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

@FedPete I think I agree with you about the sprinkles. I’m going to play around with the size and see what looks good. I think I’m going to keep the brick texture, though, to try to make it look like a real environment. I did, however, turn down the normal amount to try to make it a little more subtle.

@NP5 That’s a good idea about having the wall at an angle. I hadn’t thought of that. I tried rotating it, but it didn’t match with the marble counter top. Then I tried rotating both, and I think it looks better. How would you go about adding a paintbrush texture?

@Ethan_Martinez you can, as soon as I buy a 3dPrinter with Dough filament. :doughnut:

Thanks again for the feedback. For anybody that hasn’t tried this tutorial yet, I recommend it. Andrew makes it very easy to make a good looking model in few steps.

Here it is after feedback and slight modification:
