Not sure what I pressed along the way… (Story of my Blender life.)
But for some reason, every new mesh I add, the origin seems to be locked to the 3D cursor. I tried pressing “Alt+Ctrl+Shift+C” and selecting “Origin to Geometry”, and despite it showing being selected in the toolbar, as you can see, the origin doesn’t move. Instead it moves wherever I place the 3D cursor.
I recreated the problem to make sure, but you have the pivot point turned to 3D cursor. Try changing it to active element or individual origins and that should do it. If not, at least we’ve ruled that out.
That is easy to do. If you intend to “reset zoom” by typing the keypad . but instead click the . to the left of the right shift key instead, you will lock rotation to 3d cursor. Hitting the , undoes that.
That’s actually exactly what happened XD. I guess out of habit when working with other programs I clicked it without thinking that the shortcuts are not interchangeable between the keyboard and the numberpad!
But thank you for the additional shortcuts! I’mma add . and , next to the shift key to my cheat-sheet!
Much obliged guys! Thanks for all the help as always.
Hey Zii, not sure if this will help but, I use a Wacom tablet and pen, and I hate using the numpad on any keyboard, so, in my Blender Preferences, under Input, I unchecked the 3 Button Mouse option, and checked the Emulate Numpad option. This allows me to use the regular number keys on my keyboard, and may help with the period and comma, though I’ve not used those shortcuts, so don’t know for sure whether it will work for you.
If you’re used to using the numpad, then this might hinder you more than help you, just thought you might like to know there is another option.
Just wanted to share… Thanks to all your help, I kept working on this and my building is quickly turning into a town :D, thanks again guys for all the origin tips.
