Have you heard of the new Bevel Shader in 2.8?!
It’s something really awesome… you can have an object with no bevel, or no geometry that would bevel the edges and…
All you need to do is plug the Bevel Node to the Normal input of the shader and you are done…
Only works for Cycles, BUT looks like you can bake… I will try.
Edit: After baking looks like the normal works in Eevee!
