Hello everyone!

Just so that everyone is aware, instead of going through each of the buildings individually to set up the minimap icons you can actually make it a single time using the building prefab we made several lectures ago. The only limitation to this is that all of the buildings will have the same icon (or shape) so as long as that is not an issue to your version of the game then this should work for you!

You will of course have to make the unit’s minimap icon independently but if we use a similar method with units then future units will also be able to take advantage of this strategy.

I actually did this right away and if you’re icon is a Sprite Renderer looking up you can just change the icon to whatever you want fairly easily and it also responds to the TeamColor method as long as the icon is white / grey.

If you wanted you could add a minimap icon to all units / buildings as a serialized field sprite and use the Minimap within child gameobject and have it retrive the corresponding icon at runtime.

Since it’s an orthographic view anyway I see no reason to use 3d models as they are much more expensive to render than small sprite with transparency.
