I found that unless I removed the SkyLight completely or made it invisible, I could not get any part of my level to darken. Even a section I enclosed completely in walls would still not stay dark (it would start out dark, and then become lit). Removing the skylight or setting the intensity to 0.01, I was able to darken the dungeon and then add the atmospheric effect with the torches (very cool!), but I am still curious how to get this to work properly with skylight enabled. Any thoughts? Thanks!
You probably just need to block off your ceilings from above. Sam talks about this in the lecture “Lumen & Light Bleed”.
This is true. I also had a lot of luck switching the “scalability” settings around as they seem to make drastic changes to the way light is computed between low, medium and high.
