Blender Character Creator course

Hey everyone, been some time since I posted last
Finished @Grant_Abbitt‘s Blender character creator course (the one with the orc) a while back, and had the first character to show for it, but somehow forgot to post here.

So now I’m also posting a second character!

First, with this lizard dude, it’s been so long since I finished (October las year), that I forgot most of the details. But I remember, that I had quite a hard time with painting the texture of the skin and scales because in the end, I wasn’t really sure what I’m aiming for. In the cocnept stage, I didn’t figure out every detail, which kinda bit me in the ass later.

Then I decided to make my life harder and create a full scene around the character, which significantly increased the time spent and brought its own problems

The result is the short video uploaded to instagram post here, together with some quick behind the scenes timelapses:

Here is a higher definition still photo from the animation and also a concept image:

For the second character, I was determined to not repeat my mistakes in the concept stage, and figure out everything beforehand. Which was a success… or well, would be, if for some reason later in the detailed modeling stage, I didn’t ignore the concept image and create a completely different face, which I then had to rework, so that took a lot of time :man_facepalming:

But hey, I saved some time cos I decided to not do an entire scene and just focus on the character  But speaking of saving time, between concept stage and work in 3D, I (again for some reason) decided to go for a side quest and attempt to do a 2D illustration of the character, because I wanted to make a timelapse video of it
(Video and final image will be on the bottom of the post as an unrelated 2D bonus.)

But anyhow, here are the results of making this second character, first in the instagram post with a short video at the start, and then the images:

Great post about your work! All your characters have very distinct personalities. It is wonderful to see how you work.

Thanks for your detailed description. It clearly shows how much you have grown in your skills over the past year.
