Asymmetry

I couldn’t work on the course for a while and when I came back I thought the orc was too skinny , so I made him buffer. I also made his legs a bit longer and put some ice on his face…

When I was done, I found that the model was slightly out of symmetry. I must have messed up with the grabing tool without realizing it. The last autosave that hasent the same problem is way back… I tried to bring him back to symmetry as best as I could. I think its pretty ok but of course it isnt perfect. I dont want to lose the asymmetry in the face as well as the skin, scars and so on, so Id prefere not to symmetrize…

Id really like to go on with that model, although I still have the old one… Can you please give me advice on that? Will I face big problems with the mirror when it comes to clothing and retopology… or whit any of the following steps…?

Awesome work! I think the asymmetry gives the orc some character. It will give a bit more work later on, but it should be possible to finish the course without issues. I.e., if you will do manual retopo, you will have to go and check those asymmetric places and potentially correct it (same for painting).

Otherwise, you can symmetrize it at any moment (i.e., cut it in half, remove half, add and apply mirror modifier). This might need some tweaking too though (on the symmetry line).

As bOBaN says I do not think it will be a problem, just make the low poly retopo fit the sculpt. You could do most of it with a mirror on then apply it and adjust it to any nonsymmetrical parts.

Looks very impressive alpha texturing. 18 mill verts

Thx a lot :+1:t4:
Now I finally need to start making him some clothes, I have seen this dude naked for too long
