where could have I gone wrong? it is looking very boxy, the cylinder is almost lost here.
chess peice 2

Low poly will look ‘boxy’.

You seem to have rotated or moved only a part of your base and therefor fort it squewed. I would just scrap it and redo it, so early in the process.

Would importing the same image in front and right viewport help?
I was also thinking of starting over but would like to know how to make the horizontal plane edge loops circular again?

Shift Alt S the ‘to sphere’ tool would round the loop off again once you got it flat and were looking top down, but it is all more fiddle than it is worth. You would have to make sure each was central from front and side too.

You could have another image copy to look side on to as well but with a round object there is really no need.

Start again and work square on, proper orthographic views. Wireframe or x-ray To be sure you have the whole loop selected when moving it.

why cant i create a thread in /c/blender/14 ?
i wanted to share what i made in Section 1 final challenge

anyways, heres what i made, what do you guys think?

Lookimnf interesting.

You should be able to make new topics in the show section, Not sure about those particular tags, or why they might be any problem. The general show is fine.

It would be really nice if the new Blender v2 course showed all of the planned projects. As it stands, I can’t even tell if the cover image for the course (the house on the island) is something we are going to create in the course, or if it’s just click-bait.

Images used usually relate directly to the content. It probably comes later. Though looks just like the low poly work of the environments course with the island. The trees have been made for example so perhaps the early parts get pulled into the later basic big building in the image.

Good Mech.

Habit here is generally to start your own topic to show your work. No problem, just more likely to be noticed that way.

Will there be a geometry nodes course in the future?

I guess one might be added or a section to another course. I suspect they are all a bit new and largely complicated for beginner use. But there are simple uses for them like scattering objects instead of hair particles.

I suspect and have seen mention of the idea that after a while ready made geo nodes may become like modifiers are now. You select one and have some sliders or similar to adjust. As with texture nodes, a basic use most people pick up, but the specialists do insane things with hundreds of nodes. Effectively it is coding more than the art entry and use by most. Hence my feeling they will need to settle in before getting much real practical use by beginners, and courses setting out how to use the basics.

Really liking this course, working with simple shapes and extrusion is quite entertaining

Good building render.

A lot of imagination went into making that water. Blender has a “sea” function, which automates water surface. I am going to be present more often with the summer.
