Hi there, good question. In the lecture he unchecks all the colliders and only adds the ones he needs. Minimizing the collisions means the game has to process less collisions, which helps with performance. However, choosing which collisions occur does affect the game itself. He goes through the options here just to give you an idea of how you could affect gameplay with collision detection. The example being having units pass through other units or buildings. Does it affect anything specifically in this lecture? Not so much.
