This is the Blender Collaboration 2025, week 51 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.
This week’s subject is “Christmas”.
“Christmas” - Create a scene or prop that captures your favorite visual aspect of Christmas.
The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.
I’m really inexperienced in particle systems (I always fall back on modelling, when I should be strengthening other skills >.<), and I have little idea how I ended up with this over what I had. It might be clumping, but I messed with so many settings xD
You were right, there was some clumping issues. And some hair shape issues. I’m too tired to figure out what I did wrong, so I cheated and fetched the beard from a previous save file xP
We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 52 “New beginnings” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Christmas” challenge may select a subject for next week 53 and win a badge.
FedPete congratulations!
It was a close call. And one of the last votes did the switch, because @Crisus and @FedPete where sharing first place for a long time. Well done Crisus!
The battle ax was a last add-on trying to make things symmetrical. But when I see it again, I think it could be the main concepts of something in a completely different setting. Not having presents in the bag, but bloody items (body parts …).
I think the floor turned out best. The circle of light was created by making the texture in a gradient circle transparent, making the floor disappear into the dark background. This was also done with the orange tint on the floor to simulate the lantern.
Crisus - Beautiful and lovely diorama! It has a nice Christmas feeling. The dark ground base could be missed I think …
Breagha - Maybe you’ve inspired me to add an ax! And my new view on the subject as written down earlier in this post. But maybe Christmas is all about positive things … But still it’s a good project I think. Lights, eyes, hair … maybe more skin details?
Note:** I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
Yes, Christmas is all about good things! I’m just not much of a Christmassy person, so I only did Krampus, here, too keep up with the creative streak ^^
But hey, then you went and made a Christmas warrior to battle evil Santa!
