2025 Collab: Week 46 “Epic proportions” - VOTE CLOSED

This is the Blender Collaboration 2025, week 46 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “Epic proportions”.

  • “Epic proportions” - create a piece of epic proportions or with an epic impact on the viewer. Examples: Huge sci-fi tower, sprawling medieval city, giant monster vs mecha or spacestation orbiting an alien planet, etc. Go nuts
  • Subject selected by the previous Week 44, 2025 “ Lost / abandoned place* " winner Wolfguardian

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.

Deadline: 2025-11-15T22:55:00Z

Mecha repair bay (Final result)

The mecha is an asset I created last year so using that + some of the assets from the abandoned places challenge saved a lot of time which enabled me to finish this just in time.

Aldo I got to choose the topic this week it was a real challenge to get this done. I had a lot of ideas and a difficult time choosing. First idea was more of a fantasy city / landscape which I made some thumbnail sketches for and a block out but after that it dit not click with me.

Then I tried to go for a space station but Blender kept crashing because of the heavy displacement modifiers and would not render or at some point even display in render preview. Tried a second time and that would crash as wel even to the point of not being able to save

Beware of the rampaging giant lego man
Very nicely done. I like the contrast with the realistic trees, good use of sight lines as well.

Last week’s topic was a difficult one. What makes something EPIC? Also, the word EPIC can have various meanings. But not all topics have to be simple.

Great concept drawings! Not sure what kind of tool you were using, but you could try Blender Grease Pencil and then learning about that too.

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 47 “Alien Grocery Store” has already started. The winner of this week’s “EPIC proportions” challenge may select a subject for next week 48 and win a badge.

Thank you :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: I use Photoshop to create my sketches. Right now I’m focusing on learning / getting beter at sculpting but Grease Pencil is something I do want to learn more about.

@FedPete congratulations!

I think I had the same problems as Wolfguardian. How do you convey the feeling of epic proportions? You have to at least show scale, size, and/or quantity. Then there’s the problem of composition, camera positioning, and in my case, the camera lens (12mm focal length).
You can make something big, but I think it has to be something that makes the viewer think, “I’ve never seen something so big.” With a Meca suit, you just expect it to be big. And with a Lego figure, the opposite is true.

Congratulations  That is indeed the challenge how to convey that feeling. I looked at a lot of references and read the theory but putting it into practice is something else
