This is the Blender Collaboration 2025, week 02 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.
This week’s subject is “Speeders”.
Speeders - Who has not seen any fancy fast vehicles floating and zigzagging around in games, movies, or comics? They look so fast, maneuverable, and easy to park! Well, show your idea for a speeder of any size and in any style. The only request is that it looks fast !
The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. At the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.
Spent just a little time throwing this together, Fed’s drawings reminded me of a concept my partner and I put together last year. I’ve got a little scene in my head I’ll try to put together for this week’s challenge.
I was starting to consider skipping this challenge since I was not in best terms with inspiration. Lucky for me yesterday morning, a friend sent me a DeLorean toy picture and I came up with an idea.
That’s funny. And yes, I don’t know whether it’s exactly negative, but even if the character is moving ahead, the first impression is that it is returning or going back.
@FedPete congratulations. I wanted to add so much more to the model but as usual in the Collab, too little time.
Spent a lot of time on the lighting. Shiny material should reflect a lot of light, so I wanted to introduce hard and soft (diffuse) light. That worked, but not what I had in mind.
Also, the model should have contained a lot more details. And every time I think, I’m going to work out the theme even further …
Joey_Cuevas - I like your dramatic lighting. Your speeder has nice little details and appropriate textures. You would expect the speeder to have more Lego like shapes, with the introduction of a Lego figure. Now that it has two design systems.
Megane_Wang - Seeing your entry I immediately think of what I missed in my entry. Soft reflection of the environment plus hard reflections. The design is perhaps too recognizable (StarWars) and viewers will use that as a reference.
HobbyPirates - This immediately makes me think of games like Mario Kart. Shape, color and theme fit well with that kind of game types. I do have to think of: “What is the definition of a Speeder”. Difficult to say. Googling about the subject gives me different answers.
Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
I totally missed voting on this week. Congrats, FedPete! The final render/design looks so good! I saw your hand-drawn concepts but not the final (2025 has been insanely busy). Really great hard-surface modeling. Colors are great, the design is fun.
All of the entries are wonderful! Great job, everyone!
