Is the deadline really on 21th of september? the same day when the week 39 came out?
No, it’s next Saturday night (28th); there’s actually time until @FedPete can prepare the voting (shh… don’t say I told you ).
Thank you, for pointing that out. It was a case of copy and paste …
Hello everyone,
I decided to participate in this Collab, not so confident, but will see
I guess, took the Parade “float” too literal, but I hope some of you might get the reference
It’s my best friend’s favourite movie =)
You’ve probably noticed that people love to take liberties like this, so by all means, bring 'em on =D
A work in progress so far.
Here’s what I ended up with.
Not experienced in making environments, so there really isn’t one here. I was more focused on trying to figure out the particle systems, which lagged the scene quite a bit. I may have wanted to go with the clay idea instead and kept it looking cleaner, but I wanted to try making the plastic streamer look on the sides of floats, and I think I got it.
It’s very nice! And everyone makes their own version of the topic, that’s the idea too!
I can easily think of it as a chocolate figurine It looks great
Chocolate figurine? That’s a great idea. I may do that, or I might make it look like clay.
Thanks, I think this will be first and last Blender Collab for me for a longer time period. Won’t have much time in next weeks and also I want to move in the Blender Creator course, still right after the Dino section. So I need to complete it and get another experience
I love that simple yet beautiful model.
That’s perfectly fine; I’m sure you already know, but it’s worth highlighting that the Collab is drop-in/drop-out at will, with no pressure. I think it’s been a good couple of months now since I did one, but it’s always fun to see what people come up with =)
Yes, it is very inspirational to see what can people come up with. Since I started my first Blender course 3 weeks ago and posted first own creation, I also got the notice from @Megane_Wang about Blender Collabs, and saw almost all of them from this year.
So when I was done with castle project I rushed into this week Collab, I might joined too early with almost nothing I know about Blender and modeling
Well, if it helps, I was not too much further in the course when I gave it a first try; and your entry is perfectly fine. Just come when you like it
Still working on it, but it’s taking shape A parade float for the night before the Three Wise Men visit children here on January 6th.
And this is the final one:
Wow, I really like this one. The plastic streamer material could use some translucency to ease up the shadows but other than that big
So we can post even after the submital deadline?? Did not know that
Yes, but once the voting is created, it’s closed.
It depends when I have the time to create the vote.
We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your entry.
The new subject week 40 “Shiny arms for a boss” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Parade floats” challenge may select a subject for next week 41 and win a badge.

@xealstrag Congratulations on your entry for the “Parade float”. It has many of the elements you would expect to see. A clear theme, people, balloons and decorations.
- Megane_Wang - Great idea to use light. I wish I had thought of that. It makes the whole thing look a lot like a fairy tale. The lighting is nice but I do miss some kind of theme, a story (may a house of candy?).
- Gaaster - Also a nice example of presenting something but it can also be something other than a “Parade float”. But the story shown is complete and recognizable. You could improve the lighting, more bright.
- FedPete - What can I say. For short projects like the Collabs, keep it simple and more manageable. The point is, I wanted to use existing assets. But they are often not well put together, texture problems, sloppy made or just not suitable as an asset yet. I haven’t mastered that process yet.
Note: I don’t want to offend anyone. I try to write down positive ideas and visions in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
