2023 Collab: Week 11 “Steampunk" - VOTE CLOSED

This is the Blender collaboration 2023, week 11 challenge. Don’t be afraid to join, a lot of us are beginners. This is all to practice, have fun, learn, and get together.

This week’s subject is “Steampunk”.

  • Steampunk - Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction that incorporates retrofuturistic technology and aesthetics inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk works are often set in an alternative history of the Victorian era or the American “Wild West”, where steam power remains in mainstream use, or in a fantasy world that similarly employs steam power.
  • Subject selected by the previous Week 9 “Music” winner benu

The rules are simple. 1 subject, 1 entry, 1 week.
You create whatever object or scene or whatever you can think of that has something to do with the subject. It can be as simple or complicated as you want, all entries are welcome!
Post your picture here in this thread. And at the end of the week, we start to vote. And if you are the winner, you may choose the next subject and win a unique badge.

Deadline: 2023-03-18T22:55:00Z

I’ve found the reference on pinterest and wanted to challenge myself to replicate it. I guess mine is way more rustier than the reference

A steampunk version of GlaDOS ;D

I started too late with this and couldn’t go into details as much as I wanted. Still working on the lighting and trying to get a better underwater look. The glass shader reflection doesn’t really make sense right now either. But here’s my submission just in case.

We @BlenderCollab have a few days to vote. You can vote fast but also think slowly about design, colors, technique, difficulty, subject, realism, etc. Choose consciously and not on your own entry.

And the new subject week 12 “Racing” has already started. The winner of this week’s “Steampunk” challenge may select a subject for next week 13 and wins a badge.

@Gordon congratulations on your submission about a steampunk submarine. It has an excellent mechanical look. The underwater lighting looks good. And it’s a fun subject to look at, because of all those tiny details (rivets, textures)

  • Medial - It’s a beautiful scene, the campfire light is very nice. Also, the composition is excellent. But I miss a bit more steampunk-ed, brass details.
  • consummatutest - Great model reproduction. It needs a bit more Steampunk.
  • Joey_Cuevas - The concept of Steampunk is there, but it looks modern also. I miss the age of steam.
  • Kato-San - It looks like Steampunk. But if you don’t know “GlaDos” then it’s difficult to recognize its function, size, or meaning.
  • Willrun - It’s a funny little guy. Try to improve the lighting. If the lantern provides more light, this little guy will show its details better. Because it’s the center of attention. Add more reflective (brass) parts, so you get more tiny details.

Note: I don’t want to offend anyone for any reason. I try to write down positive ideas and visions that I have in my simple use of the English language. I am also sometimes more inspired by a particular subject or solution. I’m also learning from you!
