Maybe it’s depending on the sections of the course. I think most people don’t look at stuff in the 2D section anymore. I haven’t gone past Bowl Master 3D yet, but all the stuff up through Glitch Garden had very few responses. I tagged Ben in some of the questions I had but never got any response there. I figured out what to do on my own eventually, but it’s a little disappointing that people aren’t as active as on here. Case in point, you and I have been replying quite frequently by comparison. Over in the other course, I don’t see any reply or reactions to anything I posted so I seldom posted there any more.

Maybe I’ll give it another shot once I’m further in the 3D section of the course there. So much to learn, so little time.

I really like that this course is pretty active now though so I’ll try to go through this one while it’s still fresh. I’m pretty sure by the time I get back to the other one I would probably find it easy at that point since this course will cover a bit more advanced topics.

Hi,

Quite a while back Udemy changed their UI and what was the Discussions became Q&A. Ben announced a little while later that they would use Udemy’s Q&A for exactly that, e.g. if a student has a problem, they can post up and they would be able to get support, but for other things like sharing code examples, links to student’s games and so on, our nice shiny forum was the place to be.

In fact, quite a lot of people tend to ask questions here anyway, and of course there is the new Discord server too.

More recently, the team have introduced student instructors who cover the Udemy courses and provide support.

I don’t know whether perhaps if your posts were a little while ago there may have been a bit of an over lap, or whether maybe, if they weren’t specifically questions this may be why they went unanswered. If you would like to share a few links to them with me I will happily take a look if it is of use to you.

Poncho and Lefty

Ben, Sam and Rick

I say they should be called Cane and Able and there brother woopsy.

Hi Rob,

I posted this 10 days ago. I solved the issue myself after getting no response for about a day and I tagged Ben in the message. I did post my gripe about no response there at the time as well.

Anyway, I haven’t posted much there since I didn’t think people still read that board. I didn’t know about Udemy Q&A since the course was saying to use the discussion board. Perhaps I should have used Q&A instead.

Hi Patrick,

Oh sorry, I thought you meant you had posted on the Q&A, not on the forum, sorry, I misunderstood.

Ben and the other members of the team are not always able to respond directly due to the commitments with the course(s) content production, as you can imagine, this is quite a big task. They have support in place and a process for escalation when needed.

One reason for others not responding on the forum maybe that, because of it’s fairly busy nature, once a topic isn’t displayed on the “latest” view, it’s only likely to be spotted by those either click on “More” or, if they happen to be browsing through the same category.

Apologies on my behalf as I do try to keep on top of the posts here myself but clearly missed yours, most likely for the above reasons.

/note to self, must do better!

Support route can be via Q&A for instructor / student instructor responses

or

Community forum (here) for peer support (instructors/student instructors do drop in also obviously). Once you’ve posted here you could also link to it from a Discord message also.

Hope this helps and sorry your post here got missed.

Bart & Lisa!

I shall name thee Don & Key

That’s clearly Coen, Thomas and Yorick in this picture.

Burro, Dray, and 8675309.

I say their names should John, Tom and Jim.

You already make me feel very supported just looking over the stuff here. I’ll start using Q&A in the other course. This RPG discussion board is very lively so I’ll keep using it and try to finish this course in a timely manner so everything is fresh

Thank you though for caring. You are awesome!
