YARS - Yet Another Rocket Ship


Blender + Krita; just a quick model and paint to make sure I’m refreshing some skills in there as well. Drew a curve for the ship contour; used screw modifier to give it a form. Simple planes with thickness modifier for the fins, cloned and rotated around the body. Texture just a default BSDF and plain UV unwrap with some quick dabs of colour in blender texture painter to see what regions I’m looking at; then some box selects in Krita to get straight lines across the body.

I’ve been in software development for decades and briefly studied 3D modeling/animation a long long time ago. Using this new journey of “indie game upskill” as an excuse to brush up on art again since a lot of the dev fundamentals are okay and it’s just the game specific stuff I need to learn on the tech side.
