Whats up I'm kinda new

Hey, everyone, my name is Nicholas. I’ve had the unity and blender course for some time now but I always just leave it for a month or two. Does anyone have some tips for me to keep to it and not quite? I want to learn to model, animating, and coding but I just can’t keep myself to it for longer than a week or two.

I’m kinda of the same, so I try and every other to every 3 days do a little something, eg make a simple object like a cardboard box to a pig in a forest, and have my bigger project worked on more slowly so I don’t feel burnt out or like I have to do it. I also just take breaks like a week off from doing it so that it always feels fresh and fun again.

Hello Nicholas! Nice to meet you.

Sometimes sticking with anything new is difficult. In the world of game development there are so many options and avenues that sometimes it can feel overwhelming. What kept me sticking to C++ during the time I had to myself was doing a class (with a Cave of Programming course) and then starting a project alongside it.

Utilizing as much of the new information as possible to improve upon and expand this project kept me looking at the next video because I had new things I wanted to try, so I would watch the next lecture to see what new piece of information I could use to add to the project or improve how it ran.

It’s not an easy thing to do, but if you can find a way to narrow your scope to your current ability and just expand upon that, you prevent yourself from being overwhelmed while also seeing pretty dramatic improvement from one lecture to the next. It may not work for everyone but it worked for me while I dedicated all of my time to it.

It’s also possible that it’s a thing you WANT to do but not a thing you LOVE to do, and that in itself is a bit of a challenge to overcome as well.

Hey, Jesse thanks for the reply and I like what you said about narrowing my scope. I think that’s the problem I’m trying to do more than I should and just burning myself out. Also, it’s just something I want to do haven’t really found what I love to do.

Hey, jackal glad I’m not the only one like this. And I have to try doing little projects like you say so I don’t get burned out.
