So i was going through this course and i about lost my mind because of not being able to weight paint and i didnt find anything in this section that addressed my issue. There was one but it was something different so I wanted to share. In my version of blender you have to change the brush to subtract AND have a value to remove weight. Just putting it to 0 will not work on the Add brush or subtract. No brushes will work at a 0 level. I about lost my mind but i found it yay.

Values should work normally on Mix brush. If they are not, its probably some kind of bug.
Add and Subtract do just what their names suggest: add and subtract weight values, so with weight 0, they add or subtract 0, so they dont change the value.
Mix brush on strength 1 should set the weight on given weight value.
