Way to keep the one of axis fixed during curve drawing / Adding vertexes

i noticed that during the course he modified the Y coordinate manually by setting it by zero, i found away accidentally is to enable the snapping (Increment) in view side mode which prevent the mouse to go to another Y coordinate
