After a couple of days responsibly doing the basics, I have entered the “leap into something waaaaay outside my comfort zone to learn some hard lessons” portion of my journey.
Pulling this guy back from 7.8 million faces to 43,000 before my laptop sets fire to my desk.
When I get it lower I need to pull his snout forward. He needs to be a little more “snapping turtle” and less, well, “Kermit the frog”.

Looks good.
Basic rule with sculpting. Do the whole thing in the lowest poly you reasonably can, then go up a stage and add finer shaping and details, repeat up to your millions of verts if wanted.
Do not get involved with say the head and do details there ahead of the earlier stages all over.
If working this way sculpting odds are you will make a retopologised low poly from it and bake the High Poly details onto it.
