Visual Studio Code Not Launching

I was going along through the Udemy course one day about a week ago when VSC said it needed to update. So, naturally, I let it. This means it would’ve updated to 1.36.1.
When it finished the update, it reloaded the program and I went along coding my Triple X program like it was no big deal. Later that night, we had a thunderstorm in my area, so I turned off my computer after closing VSC.
The next morning, I turned on the computer and double-clicked on VSC to load it…but it won’t launch.
It’s been a few days since then, about 8 or 9. I keep trying to launch it–double-clicking and right-clicking “Open”–but it just won’t launch. It doesn’t even give me an error screen.

How to recreate:

  1. Double-click VSC / Right-click and click “Open”
  2. That’s it.

Usually, it’ll sit there and spin for a minute, and then instead of launching the program, nothing happens. I think this is either because I turned off the computer (which should not be the issue) or something occurred/messed up when it tried to update.
I realize this isn’t exactly a coding question, but I wasn’t sure where to post about it. I’d love it if someone could help me because I’d really like to continue the program but I’m incredibly stuck.
Thank you in advance, and if you need more information please let me know!

Microsoft usually has a repair installation option if you go to uninstall or try to install it while installed. You can try that or do an uninstall and reinstall.

Thank you very much! I’m not quite sure how I fixed it–all I did was try to install it over the top since I couldn’t find the repair option–but it appears to be working, so, thanks! X3
