I’m on a mac and using 2019 version of VS. It’s a little different that what is going on but it was the one that downloaded. So far I don’t see any issues.
My question is: Should I download the 2018 version or just carry on?

If you feel more comfortable when everything works exactly as seen in the video, download Rick’s version.
If you are fine with looking for solutions, use the latest stable version of Unity. Since many students already do that, it is very likely that you will find an answer here.
The decision is up to you.

Oops, I’ve just noticed that you were asking about VS, not Unity. In case of VS, there is no difference regarding this course. We do not do anything special anyway. If you are already using VS 2019, keep that version.
