UV Mapping changes - Beginner course - 4.3

Hi - Ive just been going through the beginner course - and although i dont plan on using textures for my 3d models, as im mostly doing this for 3D printing, i wanted to complete the course to get a better understanding of what Blender can do.

On one of the other sections - (modular dungeon i think) it stated that in Blender 4.3, there were changes to the way lighting worked when compared to 3.x - Raytracing i believe it was.
However, with UV Mapping, it seems i cant follow this part of the course as there are changes to the way you add / change and create maps on objects.

Is there a similar breakdown on the changes to 4.3 that will enable me to smoothly transition the knowledge from the older versions to the newer?

I’ll be completing this and moving onto one of the scuplting courses after this, as i think that will be more what im after, but getting to learn the basics around all the different functionality has been great.
Its eye opening how much can be achieved on this software and i commend the creators of the courses. Other than the changes in versions, they are very easy to follow and its been great seeing that im actually picking things up!

Ta!

As far as I know other then the change in the UV menu layout, the addition of minimum stretch option, and new snapping option in the UV editor there isn’t any changes. As for the UV options they are now part of the Unwrap submenu. That’s all the changes that I’m aware of. They did optimize the smart UV project. Maybe you can tell us what you are unable to do.

General Q&A note

Help us all to help you.
Please give full screenshots with any questions. With the relevant panels open.
This can be done by Blender itself, via the ‘Window’ menu bar top left-hand side.
On that menu dropdown is ‘save screenshot’.
Also, if possible, include the lecture time and name/number that is relevant to the problem/issue.

The Raytracing change you may have seen mentioned was to the Eevee rendering engine and is an upgrade meaning some ‘faking it’ functionality could be removed.

If you come across something that has changed from the course video just ask about it here. Or you may even see it already answered.

apologies for the slow response time!
The part that confuses me - in ‘UV Islands and Seams’ around the 7.30 mark as an example, the commands are U to unwrap and then ‘unwrap’ whereas if i try that, i have a full list of options and im unsure which ones i should be using, or when i should be using them.

Angle Based was the old default and still is the one to use really until you know of a reason to be using anything different.
