Nothing too impressive here, but UV’s have always been hard for me so nice to have this course to make it digestable. I wanted to go a little further than what he taught in this lecture, so I added a little more geometry to my barrel and created a separate image texture for the metal bits, assigning it to the proper faces.
I also used what he taught us in previous textures to apply a ColorRamp to change the metal texture image I found that I didn’t think would quite work, to something more in line with what I wanted.
I’m really impressed by how far UV mapping can take you towards “realism” even with such a low poly model. While I’m still a long way off from UV mapping more complex models, I’m starting to get a much better idea of how to implement it effectively.
