Unjoining separate vertices when I do Remesh

So I made these cool spikes on the dragon’s back, but every time I doing Remesh, the software stitches them together. Can you help with this?

The only way really would be to use a smaller mesh size when remeshing.

This is why sculpting has to be done in the big shapes first moving to the finer details. With the finest not done until after the ‘final’ remesh. It is an automated process and when gaps are small often it can guess wrong as to where the connections should be.

Beware of the vert counts though and the computer’s ability to handle them if remeshing ever finer.
