Unity Equipping Items

So when you want to equip an item to a player, you have to manually place the item on the desired part of their skeleton and parent it to the correct part, then adjust the rotation so that it’s where you want it… This really seems like the sort of thing that would have been automated by now. I can’t believe this still needs to be done by hand. Am I missing something? Is there an easier way to do this?

in this in relation to the rpg course?
if it is, then this way is just temporary, its implemented in a proper way down the road

It was, yes. Having to manually align each weapon that a player would wield would get pretty tedious. I think I found a solution elsewhere that had a “grip” assigned to each weapon. So as long as a weapon was similar to its parent then it would work without having to align every new weapon you wanted to create.
